Four days of the IJzer

FINAL PARADE FOUR DAYS OF THE IJZER

We must keep good traditions alive and as said, so done.

Initially, started years ago by GINB employee Marie-Thérèse and her late husband Pieter and their galgo Lina. Since then, Greyhounds in Nood Belgium has participated in the Four Days of the Ijzer every year.

The Four Days of the Ijzer is an international walking event organized in the beautiful Westhoek with its rich war history by the Belgian Defense and open to civilians and military personnel from home and abroad.

The motto is “Remembering is preserving peace” whereby the victims of both World Wars I and II are commemorated each year during this event.

Every day you can choose from the distances 8km, 16km, 24km and 32km.

On the fourth walking day in Ypres - Friday, the 3^rd of August - we gather at 14:30h on the central square in the Torrepoortlaan (same place as previous years and the arrival of all walks) to then walk the final parade in a group with our dogs behind the GINB flag through the Menin Gate to the Ypres Market Place. Our dogs will all be dressed up for the occasion in a special parade outfit!

It is a goosebumps moment every year to walk through the Menin Gate and see the enthusiasm of the many people cheering on our dogs.

We are counting on a large participation of the greyhounds and their families!
