Demonstration in Ghent on the 2^nd of February 2025 on the occasion of world galgo day

Why?

On Sunday, the 2^nd of February 2025, a silent parade will take place in the center of Ghent, following the example of many Spanish cities and other cities in Europe to draw attention to the suffering of the Spanish greyhounds and to ask for an end to hunting with the galgos and other breeds.

Where?

We will gather from 13:30h on the Woodrow Wilsonplein (Het Zuid). Paid parking is available under the square (Interparking Gent Zuid). After the group photo we will leave promptly at 14:00h to walk for about an hour at a slow pace. The parade ends at the starting point.

Be there!

This is a unique event, do not miss it. Bring as many dogs as possible, because the more dogs, the more attention! Feel free to bring banners with texts against the abuse of the galgo and against hunting with them but keep it clean. Be there!

Parking

Paid parking Gent Zuid is under the square. Around the Zuid you can also park here and there but do it according to the regulations.

General

Everyone is provided with poop bags so that we do not get complaints afterwards!

Dogs must be kept on a leash. There are short sections where we must walk along the road, we adhere to the traffic rules and walk on the sidewalk there, we may not obstruct traffic or public transport. The largest part of the route is car-free or car-calm. Finally, we urge you to follow the route behind the organizers. We only have a permit for this route. The police will check.
